Lawrence E. Weaver, Jr. December 14, 1925 - June 24, 2024 DECATUR - Lawrence "Larry" E. Weaver, Jr., 98, of Decatur, IL, passed away Monday, June 24, 2024. He died peacefully at his home in Primrose Retirement Center of Decatur, with his family by his side. Larry was born December 14, 1925, in Maroa, IL, the son of Lawrence, Sr. and Cora Catherine (Trost) Weaver. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army, during WWII. Larry married his beloved wife, Phyllis Sharlene Smith, on February 3, 1952 in Decatur, IL, and remained devoted to her through 67 years of marriage, until her passing on April 14, 2019. He was known for his kindness to others and his pride in his family. Larry owned and operated Weaver Bros. Van & Storage, Inc. for over 40 years. After selling the moving company, he continued working at Miles Chevrolet, then as a bailiff for the Macon County Courts, and finally at Hertz Rent a Car, working (and driving) until 95 years of age.
